The Book of Matthew 13 v- 44 thru 50

44 “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. 46 When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it. 47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. 48 When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away. 49 Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”

The Eucharist, a profound mystery of our faith, echoes the parables found in Matthew 13:44-50, where Jesus reveals the Kingdom of Heaven through vivid imagery. These verses illustrate the immense value of the Kingdom, akin to treasures hidden in a field, a pearl of great price, and a net cast into the sea.

In Matthew 13:44, a man discovers a treasure hidden in a field and, recognizing its immeasurable worth, sells all he has to purchase the field. This parallels how the Eucharist is a hidden treasure within the ordinary elements of bread and wine. When we partake in the Eucharist, we uncover the profound presence of Christ, a treasure far surpassing any earthly wealth. Just as the man in the parable sacrifices everything for the treasure, we are called to approach the Eucharist with a heart willing to surrender all for the sake of this divine encounter.

Similarly, in verses 45-46, a merchant finds a pearl of great price and sells everything to acquire it. The Eucharist is that precious pearl, a gift of inestimable value. It is the culmination of God’s love and the embodiment of His Kingdom on Earth, inviting us to prioritize our spiritual nourishment above all else. The Eucharist becomes our pearl, for which we must be willing to forsake worldly attachments to embrace the divine.

In verses 47-50, the Kingdom of Heaven is likened to a net cast into the sea, gathering fish of every kind. This inclusive image reflects the Eucharistic table, where all are invited to partake in the sacred meal, regardless of their background. The Eucharist unites us, transcending human divisions and drawing us into the divine mystery of God’s love and grace.

Thus, the Eucharist is intricately tied to the parables in Matthew 13:44-50, revealing the Kingdom’s hidden treasures, priceless value, and universal call. It is the foretaste of the heavenly banquet, the sacred meal where we encounter the living Christ and are transformed by His grace. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

07-31-2024 Matthew 13 V-4450

**The Eucharist is a Pearl of Great Price**

In fields of wheat, a treasure hides,

The Eucharist, where grace abides.

Like hidden pearl of greatest worth,

It brings heaven's feast to glory on Earth.

In parables, the Savior spoke,

Of nets and seeds, of yoke unbroke.

The Kingdom's secrets, wrapped in light,

Unveil the Eucharist's sacred might.

The man who found a treasure rare,

Sold all he had, with love and care.

So we, in faith, to altar go,

To taste the love that Christ does show.

A merchant sought a pearl so fine,

Just as the bread becomes divine.

In simple form, the Lord we meet,

In Eucharist, our joy complete.

The net cast wide in sea of blue,

Brings fish of every kind, it's true.

So we are gathered, rich and poor,

To share the meal, and love restore.

In Eucharist, the Kingdom gleams,

Fulfilled in bread and wine, our dreams.

A foretaste of the feast to come,

Where all are one, in God's dear Son. Amen.
