The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 8 Verse 5 thru 13
5 When he entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him and appealed to him, 6 saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully.” 7 He said to him, “I will come and cure him.” 8 The centurion said in reply, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. 9 For I too am a person subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come here,’ and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith. 11 I say to you, many will come from the east and the west, and will recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the banquet in the kingdom of heaven, 12 but the children of the kingdom will be driven out into the outer darkness, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.” 13 And Jesus said to the centurion, “You may go; as you have believed, let it be done for you.” And at that very hour [his] servant was healed.
In Matthew 8:5-13, we encounter a profound moment of faith and humility through the interaction between Jesus and a Roman centurion. The centurion, known for his authority and military prowess, approaches Jesus with a plea for healing for his paralytic servant. Notably, he acknowledges his own unworthiness, saying, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof.” This statement resonates deeply with us, particularly as we prepare to receive the Eucharist each and every day.
As we approach the altar, we echo the centurion's words, recognizing that our humanity, with its flaws and sins, renders us unworthy of the divine presence. Yet, similar to the centurion, we are reminded that it is not our worthiness that matters, but our faith. The centurion understood that Jesus had the authority to heal with just a word. In our reception of the Eucharist, we desire the same—Jesus, through His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, offers us healing and strength for our journey.
In this sacred moment, we humbly ask Jesus to heal our souls, opening ourselves to the graces of salvation found in our everyday lives. By acknowledging our need for His mercy and grace, we invite Him into our hearts and lives, allowing His presence to transform us. Though we may feel unworthy, it is precisely in our vulnerability that we experience the power of Divine Love.
As we say, “but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed,” let us carry this prayerful attitude with us, seeking healing and greater understanding of Salvation in every moment as we share the joy of Salvation with everyone we meet. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. Day Five Novena for Repose of the Soul John Jeffries. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

**As You Have Believed Let It Be Done For You**
In Capernaum’s streets beneath the sun,
A centurion sought help, his heart weighed down,
For a servant, ill, his life nearly undone,
With faith unshaken, he wore a noble crown.
He approached the Lord, with humble regard,
“Master, my servant lies paralyzed and sore,”
His words, like whispers, though strong and unmarred,
“Just say the word, and he will no longer be at death’s door.”
Jesus, astonished, turned to those around,
“A faith like this I’ve seldom ever seen,
From Israel’s heart, such belief profound,
The Gentile’s trust shone bright, a radiant glean.
For many will come from the east and the west,
To sit at the table, in joy, in delight,
While others, unyielding, will fail the great test,
In darkness, they’ll wander, away from the light.
“Go,” said the Savior, “your faith has made whole,”
The centurion's heart soared, his spirit set free,
In that very hour, the healing took hold,
A testament strong of what faith yet can be.
Distance meant nothing, for love knows no bounds,
The word of Christ traveled swift on its wings,
A bond of devotion, in silence it sounds,
As heaven rejoices, and the earth softly sings.
So let us remember, in trials we face,
Faith can move mountains, and hearts it can mend,
Just speak, Lord, we ask, in Your mercy and grace,
For with every whisper, Your love knows no end. Amen.
