The Gospel of John 19 Verses 25 thru 30

25 Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. 26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. 28 After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.” 29 There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.

On the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, we reflect deeply on the emotional moments captured in John 19:25-30. In this passage, we encounter Mary standing at the foot of the cross, bearing witness to the immense suffering of her son, Jesus Christ. Despite her anguish, Mary's steadfast faith and courage shine through as she experiences the fulfillment of God's plan for salvation.

The verses recount how Mary, along with other faithful disciples, including the beloved disciple John, stood firm in their devotion amidst the dark shadows of the crucifixion. Mary's presence is a profound testament to maternal love and unwavering faith; she embraces her role not just as Jesus' mother but as a model of discipleship for all believers. In her suffering, she becomes the Mother of the Church, embodying the spirit of endurance and hope amid despair.

When Jesus, seeing his mother and the disciple he loved, entrusts them to one another, he underscores the importance of community and care within the Church. His words, “Woman, behold your son,” and to the disciple, “Behold your mother,” resonate deeply, reminding us that we are all called to support and uplift one another in faith.

As Jesus utters his final words, “It is finished,” he acknowledges the completion of his mission and the beginning of a new covenant through his sacrifice. For us, these moments of Jesus’ passion invite reflection on our own roles within the Church. Today, we honor Mary, recognizing her enduring strength and maternal love as integral to our faith journey. As we meditate on John 19:25-30, we are encouraged to emulate Mary’s steadfastness, nurturing our community with love, faith, and compassion. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

06-09-25 John 19 v2530

**Behold Your Mother**

In shadows deep, where sorrow weeps,

A mother stands, her vigil keeps,

Beneath the weight of love and grief,

In her embrace, we find belief.

With steadfast heart, she bears the pain,

As thorns and nails bring forth the rain,

Her eyes uplifted, a prayer in sight,

For hope shall rise beyond the night.

“Woman, behold your son,” he cries,

A bond is formed in tearful ties,

A disciple’s heart, now bound to her,

In shared compassion, love astir.

“It is finished,” from His lips, He speaks,

The mission ends, yet faith still peaks,

In sacrifice, our lives commence,

He breaks the chains, our souls’ defense.

O Mary, Mother, strong and true,

In silent strength, we look to you,

Your sorrow guides our journey’s way,

Through you, we find our hearts to stay. Amen.
