The Gospel of Luke Chapter 19 Verse 41 thru 44
41 As he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides. 44 They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
In Luke 19:41-44, we encounter a poignant moment where Jesus weeps over Jerusalem, lamenting its coming destruction. As He approaches the city, filled with compassion and sorrow, He declares, "If you had known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes." For many of us today, this passage is a powerful reminder of the importance of recognizing and embracing the peace that Jesus offers.
Jesus’ tears symbolize His deep love and concern, not just for Jerusalem but for each one of us. He understands our struggles, the burdens we carry, and the distractions that often blind us to His message of hope and salvation. In our hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s all too easy to overlook the opportunities for peace and fulfillment that Jesus extends. What does this mean for us? It calls us to a moment of reflection and introspection. Are we aware of the peace that Jesus wishes to offer us amid our chaos?
Moreover, Jesus warns of the consequences when we fail to recognize this gift. He speaks of the days when enemies will surround the city, a metaphor for the challenges and hardships we face when we reject His peace. In our lives, when we stray from His guidance or prioritize worldly matters over spiritual truths, we inevitably invite turmoil.
As we meditate on these verses, let us remember that Jesus weeps for us when we wander away or when our hearts are hardened. He desires our restoration and urges us to seek Him. The invitation to know true peace is ever-present. May we have eyes to see and hearts open to receive His love, so that we may carry His peace into our everyday lives. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. Ephesians 6:17-20
11-20-2025 Luke 19 v4144
**You Did Not Recognize The Time of Your Visitation**
In twilight’s glow, He saw the city rise,
Jerusalem, with walls that touched the skies.
With heavy heart, He paused upon the hill,
For love of souls, His spirit yearned to fill.
Yet tears fell like the gentle evening dew,
For futures dark and paths that none yet knew.
“O city dear, how oft I longed to see
You gather close beneath My wing and be set free!
But hearts are hardened, blinded by their pride,
The peace denied, in shadows deep they bide,
The watchmen call, but echoes fill the air—
Their hearts unturned, lost in despair.”
Destruction loomed, a fate they would not face,
The stones would cry where silence had found grace.
Not one would stand, the glory lost in strife,
As judgment came, a bitter cost of life.
“Days will come,” He warned, “when foes surround,
And all you love will crumble to the ground.”
Yet still He gazed, a love that would not cease,
Desire for them, a longing for their peace.
Though walls might tremble, and the temple fall,
A promise lingered, hope for one and all.
For in the ruins, seeds of grace would grow,
And from the ashes, a new truth would flow.
So let us heed His heart, His tears tonight,
Embrace the call and walk towards the light.
For in our lives, as in that ancient day,
The Prince of Peace still weeps along our way.
May we awaken, turn our hearts anew,
Embrace His love and let His light break through.
Guided by grace we will see Him thrall,
Gilded by love, Salvation is for us all. Amen.
