The Gospel of Matthew 5 Verses 21 thru 26
21 “You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, ‘You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.’ 22 But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, ‘Raqa,’ will be answerable to the Sanhedrin, and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ will be liable to fiery Gehenna. 23 Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, 24 leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25 Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court with him. Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge, and the judge will hand you over to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison. 26 Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.
Matthew 5:21-26 invites us into a deeper understanding of the relationship between our emotions and our faith, particularly focusing on anger. In these verses, Jesus emphasizes the gravity of anger, equating it with murder in terms of its destructive potential. He warns that harboring anger in our hearts can lead to a separation from God and hinder our relationships with others. This teaching serves as a reminder that, as followers of Christ, we are called not just to avoid wrongdoing but to cultivate a spirit of love and reconciliation.
In a world filled with conflict and division, it is all too easy to succumb to anger. However, Jesus challenges us to reflect on how our feelings affect our witness to His love. When we allow anger to fester, we risk tarnishing the message of grace and forgiveness that we are called to share. As we become conduits of Christ's love, we are reminded that even our emotions should align with the values of the Kingdom of God.
Jesus underscores the urgency of resolving conflicts, urging us to reconcile with our brothers and sisters before presenting our gifts to God. This teaches us that our relationships matter immensely; they reflect our relationship with God. When we harbor anger or resentment, we hinder our ability to love as He loves.
In proclaiming the love of Jesus, we are also challenged to manage our anger, choosing grace over hostility. By doing so, we not only honor God but also embody the radical love that transforms hearts. As we seek to live out our faith, let us remember that every thought and emotion, including anger, must be curbed under the Lordship of Jesus. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
06-12-25 Matthew 5 v2126
**First Be Reconciled With Your Brother**
In the shadow of the mount, He speaks so clear,
Words of wisdom, meant for hearts to hear,
"Anger, dear friends, is a heavy chain,
It binds the spirit, it nurtures pain."
He says, “You’ve heard the call, do not take a life,
But anger within can stir up strife.
A word unkind, a thought that burns bright,
Can eclipse the dawn, turn day into night.”
A brother’s heart, a sister’s face,
Can be marred by fury, lost in disgrace.
Yet with love’s embrace, we find our way,
To mend the rift, to silently pray.
Leave your gift at the altar, pause in your stride,
Seek reconciliation; let love be your guide.
For what is a sacrifice, devoid of peace?
True worship blooms where anger finds release.
Oh, to care for the flame that flickers within,
To quell the tempest, to choose to begin,
With kindness and mercy, we break the mold,
A narrative of love, a story retold.
For in every heart, the potential remains,
To transform the anger, to break the chains.
So let us remember, as followers true,
In calling to love, even anger must bow too.
A message of grace, in each word we speak,
In every encounter, through strong and the weak.
In the light of His love, let us gently engage,
Fostering peace, turning sorrow to sage. Amen.
