First Letter to the Corinthians 2 v-One thru Five

1 When I came to you, brothers, proclaiming the mystery of God, I did not come with sublimity of words or of wisdom. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling, 4 and my message and my proclamation were not with persuasive (words of) wisdom, but with a demonstration of spirit and power, 5 so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.

Here the Apostle Paul addresses the Corinthian church, emphasizing the foundation of his preaching and the nature of true wisdom. He begins by recalling his approach when he first arrived in Corinth, stating that he did not come with eloquence or human wisdom but rather in humility and simplicity. This sets the tone for his message, highlighting that the power of the Gospel lies not in persuasive speech but in the demonstration of the Spirit’s power.

Paul's choice to rely on the Spirit rather than human wisdom is crucial; he underscores that the message of Christ crucified is inherently countercultural and often perceived as foolishness by the world. This reflects his understanding that true wisdom comes from God and is revealed through the Holy Spirit. By emphasizing his weakness and dependence on divine strength, Paul illustrates a central theme of our Christian faith—that God often chooses the weak and humble to accomplish His purposes.

Furthermore, Paul insists that the faith of the Corinthians should not rest on the wisdom of men but on the power of God. This challenges the prevailing Corinthian values that prized rhetorical skill and philosophical prowess. Paul’s humility serves as a model for believers, urging them to seek a relationship with God that transcends intellectualism. The passage invites readers to reflect on the nature of their faith—urging them to place their trust not in human understanding but in the transformative power of the Gospel, which is made manifest through the Holy Spirit. This passage encourages believers to embrace a faith rooted in the power of God rather than human wisdom, highlighting the profound simplicity and strength found in the message of Christ. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

09-02-2024 1 Corinthians 2 V-0105

**God’s Power Not Human Wisdom**

In Corinth's streets, Paul came to share,

Not with grand words or a polished flair.

With trembling heart and a humble frame,

He preached the Gospel, lifting Christ’s name.

No wisdom of man could his message confine,

For he spoke of a Savior, both holy and divine.

The Cross, a symbol of weakness and shame,

Yet in its surrender, Salvation would reign.

With Spirit’s power, his words took flight,

Transforming the darkness, bringing forth light.

Not in allure or persuasive delight,

But in simple truth, he ignited the night.

"Let faith not rest on what mortals proclaim,

But on God’s own strength, in His glorious name."

For wisdom of ages may falter and fall,

But the love of the Father stands true over all.

So let us remember, in our quest for the wise,

That the heart of the Gospel is where true power lies.

In weakness, we find our strength to arise,

For His grace is sufficient, our hope is the Salvation He provides. Amen.
